Here’s a perfect itinerary for 2 days trip to Amritsar. Amritsar is really popular for the iconic Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib as its commonly known. So, start your day by heading to the gurdwara in the morning as it opens by 6 am. This place is of the highest importance for the Sikhs in and outside the country. The dome and the upper floors of the gurdwara are covered with gold which is an enticing and breathtaking view. Take a dip in the holy kund (pond) and get yourself sanctified. The kada prasad (holy food offered at gurdwaras) and a langar are a must have while you are present at this famous pilgrimage site. Do have a darshan of the famous Jubi Tree.

After a holy visit to Golden Temple, it's time to dig in some of the best food items in Amritsar. Head to the 'Kulche Wala' near the gurdwara only for really famous Amritsari kulcha. Amritsar is as popular for the amazing lip-smacking food as it is for the Golden Temple. Also, try the kulchas at the really famous 'All India Famous Kulcha' which is in business for the last 60 years, each plate costing just INR 10. Thats not all, after the Amritsari kulcha, one must try saffron lassi at the really famous and acclaimed place, Ahuja Lassi near Hindu College.

Your 2 days trip to Amritsar must include a shopping list. So after indulging in some great food and lassi, its time to fill up your shopping bags and take back home really famous items of Amritsar. Shopping at Kapra Market and Old City is something without which your trip to Amritsar is incomplete. Buy popular items like Amritsari jootis (footwear) and the famous Phulkari suits, sarees, kurtas, bags and what not.

Your 2 days trip to Amritsar will be incomplete without a visit to Wagah Border. Try reaching the Wagah Border before 4:30 PM which marks the beginning of the ceremony there. So reach there well before time to grab the best seats. The famous 'Beating the Retreat' ceremony lasts for half an hour and leaves you with a patriotic and memorable experience. After this you can head to some of the famous dhabas in Amritsar for a hearty dinner.

Next day, head to Jallianwala Bagh which is one of the best places to visit in Amritsar and is of great historical importance. The memorial is dedicated to the people who lost their lives in the tragic Jalianwala Massacre of 1919.

There are bullet marks still present on the walls which takes you back to the horrors and atrocities faced by the Indians under the British rule. There is no entry fees for this historical place. Since its adjacent to Golden Temple, you can pay a one last visit at the gurdwara before you leave this 'Jewel of Punjab’.

So this is how you can have a good time during your 2 days trip to Amritsar.

Its really very useful..
