Pachmarhi is a wonderful hill station surrounded by waterfalls, cave temples and forrested ranges of Satpura National Park. So, there is a lot to do apart from exploring the Satpura National Park.

You can check out the museums here, or more specifically visit the Bison Lodge. This museum displays a lot of flora, fauna and history about the Satpura region. The tickets for the museum can be bought from the ticket office outside the national park. The museum remains open on all days (except Mondays) from 8:00 AM till 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM (Apr - Oct); and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM (Nov-Mar).

Let's come to the natural beauties of the region. You can explore the Jata Shankar cave temple which is located on a beautiful gorge. The shrine is located under a huge rock outcropping. The Pandav Caves are also worth check out. It is believed that these caves might have provided shelter to the five Pandava brothers.

If you are thinking about planning a trip to Panchmarhi, you might already know about the natural swimming pools located in the region. A special mention goes to Apsara Vihar (Fairy Pool) that is located by a waterfall and surrounded by lush greenery. What could be more divine, right? This one lies pretty close to the Pandava caves, on the other side of Jai Stambh, so you can easily check out these two attractions within a day. Apsara Vihar also makes for a great picnic spot, but please remember to clean up before leaving.

Adventure lovers are in for a treat. Panchmarhom offers you a number of adventure activities. From Hot Air balloon rides (700 per person for a 10 min ride) to Parasailing (INR 600 per person) and Trekking with local guides (INR 200 per person), you'll find no lack of choices here. If you are interested, you should probably get in touch with the Satpura Adventure club in Hotel Saket (+91-7578-252256).

But if you are looking forward to a quiet holiday, you can simply kick back and relax in one of the colonial era cottages converted to guesthouses.
