Baijnath temple, situated at distance of 17 km from Kausani, is a complex of archaeological ruins. It is a 12th century temple located at the banks of River Gomti. The ruins are located in Garur Valley where ancient temple of Lord Ganesh, Parvathi, Kubera and Brahma are present. The idol in main temple is chiseled in black stone. It is believed that the marriage of Lord Shiva and Parvati was performed at the confluence of River Gomti and Garur Ganga. There is a lake just outside the temple complex called Golden Mahseer with beautiful fishes in it. This heavenly abode of Gods is a popular destination for pilgrims. Situated amongst the snow capped mountains and surrounding natural beauty, a visit to temple is indeed an enchanting experience.
