about birla temple

Situated on Asutosh Chowdhury Avenue, Ballygunge, the Birla Temple, Kolkata is also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple and has been built by the industrialist Birla family. The liberal use of high cost raw material, creative architectural designs and aesthetic surroundings combine to form the pristine and exquisite Birla temple.

Birla Temple 's surface has been adorned with marble slabs depicting the teachings of Lord Krishna, the ones which were imparted to Arjuna during the Mahabharata war. Beautifully decorated with lights, this temple is a remarkable landmark of Kolkata. Designed by the architect Nomi Bose, the temple houses statues of deities Krishna and Radha along with goddess Durga, the Hindu goddess of Shakti and Shiva in meditation mode.

A spiritual center

The temple is a centre for spirituality. The holy environment makes you to stay for hours. The architecture is marvellous, and pushes to visit again and again.
