about chandni chowk

The fascinating array of goods from wholesale bangles to biryani, pearls to paper, golgappas to gold, motor parts to mithai make Chandni Chowk a major attraction for tourists and locals alike. If interested in shopping, try Dariba Kalan, the jewellery market that Nadir Shah plundered in 1739. It remains a much sought-out bazaar for silver jewellery. Gulab Singh Johri Mal near Katra Mohan is the oldest ittar shop in Chandni Chowk. Kinari Bazaar, off Dariba, is tinsel town for wedding finery.

Katra Neel is a souk-like saris hub. The main lane of this hustling shopping destination is divided into various bylanes, the most famous being Paranthe Wale Gali where you can just step into any one of the shops and dig into tempting Paranthas in all flavours. Then there are Chandi Gali (for silver items), Dupatta Wali Gali (for colourful Duppattas) and Itar Wali Gali where you can find shops selling perfumes in their traditional forms, known as Ittar and surprisingly some modern ones too (including lime and musk). In short, an awesome place to indulge and enjoy the shopping experience.
