How can one reach Ramnagar?

0 people found this answer useful Useful ?Yes

Ramnagar may be a small stopover on the way to Corbett but it is very well connected by air, rail and road. Once you’ve reached Delhi, depending on the number of people travelling with you and convenience, you can pick one of the options below:

  • Air

The Pantnagar Airport is the closest airport to Ramnagar. It is at a convenient 75 km away from Ramnagar and is well connected by taxi service. If you wish to fly down from Delhi, you could consider flying Kingfisher. Keep in mind that there are only season flights to Pantnagar. The airport is in the industrial town of Udham Singh Nagar and sees loads of visitors each year, most of which are travellers visiting Corbett and the surrounding Kumaon region. There is a taxi stand right outside the airport to reach you to your hotel.

  • Rail

If you plan on travelling by train, there is some good news for you. There is a railway station right at Ramnagar itself with direct and daily trains from Delhi, Moradabad, Bareilly and Lucknow. This is the closest railway station to Corbett as well. Once at the station, you can easily hire a cab or board a bus from the Ramnagar bus station which is bang next to the railway station.

  • Road

The road connecting Ramnagar and Delhi has always fascinated bikers. You could also hire a taxi, drive down or opt for a bus. It will take you about 4 to 5 hours to drive down. Travel during early morning hours to avoid traffic. There are loads of dhabas on the way that you could stop at and for a mini feast.

Cab rates would vary from about INR 7 to INR 30 per km, depending on whether you pick a normal or luxury car, plus the driver’s allowance. There are also ample buses connecting Delhi and Rampur. You can board either a luxury coach or state run buses from ISBT Anand Vihar. Ramnagar bus station is near the railway station from where you can easily hire cab to your hotel.

Whichever mode of transport you pick, please bear in mind that during festivals droves of people, both locals residing out of town and tourists travel to Ramnagar, so book your tickets on time. The distance between Delhi and Ramnagar is about 245 km and if you wish to hire a taxi, they’ll charge you for a round about trip, whether you travel back or not. Most hotels and resorts have a parking area, so you need not worry about your precious car.
