Another way to enter Nepal is through the Kakarbhitta border near Darjeeling in West Bengal. Take a auto/bus from Siliguri in West Bengal to Raniganj. Then cross the border on foot. There are overnight buses from Kakarbhitta to Kathmandu. Takes around 16 hours

The Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport in Nepal which has flights operating to and from Delhi (Indian Airlines, JetLite), Bangkok (Thai Airways), Gulf countries (through Fly Dubai, Etihad Airways and Gulf Air) and some European countries too. Nepal Airlines also offers connectivity with Delhi, Dubai, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Osaka and Singapore. Here is a picture of the Airport:

From India, travellers could choose a route via Gorakhpur, one of the most popular routes to Nepal, if you want to travel by road. One could opt for a road-trip from Kolkata via Raxaul and reach Kathmandu through Birgunj. The other alternative is the entry point of Janakpur, near Sitamadhi in Bihar.

Kathmandu can be reached by bus as well. Though the travel time can be a little bit long. One can opt for buses to Kathmandu from Patna, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Lucknow. Once you reach Nepal, you can take a bus to Kathmandu or hire a cab.

For more information and exact flights, why don't you give our Trip Planner a spin? Just enter XYZ to Kathmandu, XYZ being the city you want to start from. You can find some really cheap air tickets to Nepal!

Hope this helps!
