about maya devi temple

Believed to have been built in the 11th century, this ancient temple, Maya Devi Temple is said to be the place where the naval and the heart of Goddess Sati fell, when Shiva danced in fury over her death. A visit to Haridwar is considered incomplete if you do not visit the temple and take blessings from Goddess Maya Devi, who is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Shakti. It's one of the few temples which are still intact in their original structure at Haridwar, apart from Narayani Shila temple and Bhairav temple. Maya Devi Temple is taken to be one of the vertex of the holy triangle formed between the three temples, Chandi Devi and Mansa Devi being the other two.
