O'Goa is a shack like specialty restaurant in the heart of Panaji. Now while one would visualize these styles of structures right on the beach, Fidalgo Hotel has recreated the same with a water body in guise of the swimming pool instead of the sea. The menu boasts of a choice of Christian and Hindu Goan preparations, where the chefs prepare the traditional Goan dishes to pamper those tastebuds. Start with the Calamari Fritti (Deep fried squid rings with basil mayo). Follow up with the local favourite - Pork Chilly Fry (slivers of pork with garlic, chillies and green pepper), or perhaps if seafood catches your fancy, Stuffed Fish (Bangda or pomfret) oozing red masala. The tangy vinegar with which the masala is ground in makes the salivary glands work overtime - it is called Raechad. The Hindu Goan preparation of Talalelisvon (slices of kingfish smeared in the chef's homemade spice mix, wrapped in semolina and shallow fried)....a crusty spiced recommendation. If you prefer something 'gravy style' order the Caldeen Nustyachi (fish cooked in a mildly spiced coconut milk). Order a pao or sanna (Goan style steamed rice cakes) or Ukda sheet (Goan parboiled reddish rice). The vegetarians need not worry - a good selection of Saraswat Hindu vegetarian awaits you. Festive preparations like the Ambat Aamti (lentil and drumstick cooked and flavored with tamarind and jiggery) or the Alsande (small kidney beans simmered in roast coconut gravy) to balance with the not-so-Goan tastebuds. O'Goa also prepares Indian favourites. Lassoni Jhinga, Bharwan Platter or splurge in a Seafood Platter with your choice of preparation - crab, pomfret, red snapper, squid, jumbo prawns etc. It sure is an Aquarian harvest. The desserts ...Bebinca, Dodol, Creme Caramel or any traditional Goan sweets perhaps a Sevian kheer or Taaze Phal (fruit salad). Saturday night fever 'the live buffet spread' tagged as 'Dinner and Dance'. The kitchen is live and so is the bar as well as the band. Pick up a Pink Lady (a cocktail of course) or Rumbha with a Blood and Sand. But don't you worry, the live band sets its own tempo for you to shake too. Remember this is O'Goa...so have a fill of Goa.
