about parikrama of kamdgiri hill

Referred to as the Chitrakoot mountain in the Hindu mythology - Ramayana, Kamadgiri has been considered sacred for a very long time. This is the main and the busiest pilgrim spot in the whole of the Chitrakoot city and is considered to be the embodiment of Lord Rama himself. The hill has a dense forest cover and has a number of scattered temples at its fringe.

Kamadgiri can be translated to mean the mountain that fulfills one's desires and wishes. One of the main temples on this mountain is dedicated to Lord Kamta Nath (an incarnation of Lord Rama) who is believed to be the fulfiller of wishes. Hence it is believed that if you circumambulate this mountain, all your wishes will come true. The whole Parikrama path is about 5.5 km long and one has to walk barefoot all the way.
