about silathoranam

A must see place for nature lovers, Silathoranam is a popular tourist attraction is at a distance of 5 kilometers from Tirumala near Chakra Tirtha. The place is famous for its natural rock arch and it is believed to be the source of Lord Venkateswara’s, idol with the rocks resembling hood of a serpent, a conch and a discus.

Silathoranam is one of the three natural rock arches in the world, the other two being the Rainbow Arch at Utah in USA and the Arch of ‘Cut Through’ in UK. With a length of 25 feet this natural wonder is of great antiquity. The best time to visit the arch is between 6 am to 8 am during sunrise or during sunset when the Arch looks even more striking and mystifying in the light of the sun. If you get a chance, then do visit the Arch on a full moon night as the beauty of the place is absolutely enchanting.
