about supreme court of india museum

Inaugurated by Dr. Adarsh Sein in 2001, the Supreme Court of India Museum is a small, circular and single pillared building that showcases a contemporary design ‘not-so-like’ a museum. This Museum is divided into 2 levels; Level 0 is the basement gallery and Level 1 showcases the Indian judiciary’s development.

Housing an assortment of artifacts, including calligraphies, manuscripts and inscriptions, this place is also a home to souvenirs, old furniture and paintings from the Supreme Court & Federal Court of New Delhi. You can even find copies of the Holy Quran, Vedas and various decrees (Firmans) from the Mughal era.

You can witness here the case-files of Indira and Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination, Indian postal stamps, judges’ wigs, silver coins and a lot many other things. And,  there’s an interesting documentary on the judicial history of India, this museums airs that clearly puts across the essence behind what makes India the largest democratic nation.
