Akola, located in Maharashtra, is famous for its wonderful forts which gives a glimpse of bygone era. The region is located at a distance of approximately 584 km from Mumbai and 250 km from Nagpur. It is also famous as "Cotton City" as it is the largest cotton producing state in the country. Also,it has a big market of grains, pulses and oil mills, which is a major source of employment for the locals. The IT sector of the city is growing at a very faster rate. The place has been under different rulers like British, Hindu and Muslim and the current form is the blend of these influences. Akola is also a main centre for medical tourism with a well developed infrastructure.

Among the most prominent attractions of this city is counted the Ashok Vatika. There are statues of Siddharth Gautam Buddha, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Dr. B R Ambedkar inside the park. Raj Rajeshwar Temple is the oldest shiva temple in the city of Akola. To add quality time in the city, visit the Nehru Park, which is an amusement and water park. Some other tourist attractions include Akola Fort, Balapur Fort, Narnala Fort and Narnala.

Akola is located at an altitude of 925 feet above the sea level and witnesses a Tropical Savanna Climate. Summers are extremely hot with maximum temperatures of up to 47 degree celsius. It is suggested that you visit this destination during winter months.
