about suraj kund, lakarpur

Suraj Kund, Lakarpur, was constructed by Surajpal, a Tomar king. The Tomar kings initially settled in the Aravalli Hills and moved to the Suraj Kund area later. The shape of the monument resembles that of a rising sun, with a curve on its east end. A semi-circular stone embankment in a stepped fashion, forms an embankment that collects rain water off the hills. The bed of the embankment is 130 m in diameter. There is a pool called Siddha Kund, which lies 600 m off Suraj Kund. Fresh water oozes from the crevices of these rocks. The place is surrounded by several fortifications and attracts a large number of pilgrims. The water tank was later repaired by Firoz Shah Tughlaq, as he had a keen interest in irrigation systems.
