about latur

Latur sees a pouring of tourists, most of them on religious pursuits, all around the year. It's been granted an impressive lot of nature's bounty as well, with a lush green cover all around. It's also one of the main trade centres of Maharashtra. Being a thriving centre of religion, trade and history, Latur holds quite a prominent position when it comes to the major tourist attractions of the state. It contributes towards the economy of the state and is one of the fastest growing cities of Asia. The city of Latur is situated on the Balaghat plateau 636 metres above the sea level. It is bounded by Nanded on the northeast, Bidar on the east, Beed on the northwest and Parbhani on the north.

Among the most prominent attractions of this region is counted the Siddheshwar & Ratneshwar Temple. Located at a distance of around 2 km from this city, it was constructed by King Tamradwaj. Surat Shahvali Darga is another beautiful monument of this city. Built at the centre of the city is the famous Uddan Pool. Many big budget films have also been shot at this bridge. Some other attractions include Kharosa Caves, Udgir Fort, Handarguli and Ausa.

The best time to visit this destination is between October to February, when the weather is pleasant. Annual temperature in Latur range from 13 degree celsius to 41 degree celsius.
