Guwahati enjoys a moderate and pleasant climate throughout the year. So, if you are planning to visit the city any time soon you should not worry about getting drenched in sweat in the summers or chilled to the bones in winters. However, to enjoy your trip to the fullest lets discuss about the general weather of the city in details:

  • Summer (April to June)

Summer in the city pretty bearable, the general temperature rarely exceeds 30 degree Celsius. Light cotton clothes with a pair of sunglasses are perfect for Guwahati summers, although, due to the humidity you may tire out soon. The heat is tempered by the cool river breeze, so it is nice to sit and spend some quality time on the river side during summers.

  • Winter (October to March)

Winters are very pleasant and charming in the city. The temperature may fall to a minimum of 5 degree Celsius. Winter in Assam welcomes the festive season starting from Durga Puja and Diwali in October or November till Magh Bihu in January. It is usually a happy and joyous period during winters which makes it an ideal time to get to the city.
  • Monsoon (June to October)

Guwahati can be called a rainy city. It rains half of the year in the city and has rainy summers and winters. The onslaught of rain starts from end of summers till the starting of winters. However, it is not much of a shocker to have downpours even in December. Some parts of city tends to get flooded during monsoon, including major areas like G.S road and R.G Baruah road. Hence, communication becomes slightly difficult during this time.

Thus to say the best time to visit the city is during the winters or from September end till April beginning. In this time you can not only comfortably travel around Guwahati but also enjoy the festive season in the air.
