Some of us are very fond of digging out the past. The Archaeological Survey of India serves to keep up their interests alive. If you are one of those keen historians looking for the remains of ancient India in Puri, we shall give you a few options to check out-

  • Kuruma

Kuruma, alternatively spelt as Kurum, is a small village in Puri. The excavation exercises conducted by the State archaeological agencies between 1971-75 has revealed Buddhist artefacts from 9th and 10th centuries.
    There are images/sculptures of
Buddha, Yama (the God of Death) and Dharma (the Sun God).
A ride on a personal vehicle or public buses will be a good, scenic experience.

  • Manikapatana

If medieval Indian history excites you enough, we are sure you cannot miss on this one! This remote place in the Kendrapara district of Orissa, will give you ample of relics from the medieval period of India. Take the road to reach this site.

  • Kikha patana

If the 15th century India is of crucial interest to you, you must visit this not-so-popular site located on the Puri-Konark Marine Drive Road. Also enjoy deserted beaches along your drive to the site.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your historian's lens, and get started with exploring ancient Indian archives in these remote sites.
