If you are going to some place near the mountain, make the best use of it. Plan all your activities in such a way that you will never be far from it. And if you want more doses of it, you can always opt for camping instead of staying in a hotel and admiring the snow-capped mountain top from behind the glass window with the curtain occasionally disturbing the view. These campsite will take you to the very lap of nature

Dodital

  • 32 km from Uttarkashi, at a height of 3024 m is the popular campsite of Dodital. It is one of the most notable places to visit in Uttarkashi. The travel starts from a 30 minutes drive to Sangam Chatti and from there you can start trekking and exploring on foot, all the way up. Midst the floras of the Garhwal forest, in an unimaginable way, the Dodital Lake, with its crystal clear water full of Himalayan trouts, lays all the serenity of the universe in its calm aura. Pitch in your tent as there are camping facilities and bond with nature and live life the laid-back way, even if it is just for a while. Angling your fishing rod and trying to catch some trout for yourself, after taking permission from Uttarkashi, of course, will remind you of your childhood fishing parties. If you are lucky, the evening bonfire will be perfect for a trout dinner. Stargaze and muse over the size of the universe as night approaches. Perfect recipe for camping!

  • Dayara Bugyal
An enchanting path through the heavily wooded trail of green alpine trees, with the occasional cool mountain breeze will take you to a meadow from which the view is out of this world itself. On a clear sunny day, you will be able to witness the snow-capped mountain top of Gangotri I and II, Kalang and Draupadi etc, and in winter the wide meadow is a favourite skiing destination. The decrease in oxygen level due to the rise in altitude can be felt on the meadow but the picturesque view will seduce you take it slow and easy, offering you an energising relaxation. Imagine camping in this area, though you have to arrange for your own tent. With the twinkling stars above the meadow, the Himalayas in the backdrop and a bonfire in front of you, this will be the best campsite you had ever been to.

These campsite will take you to the very lap of nature. So, pitch in and start the bonfire. It will be a memory that will keep calling you back to this wonderful place again and again.
