In addition to their architectural and linguistic imprint, where else do you think the French left their mark? Yes, it is in the culinary delights of Pondicherry that you can literally sense and experience the French influence. White Town and Baker's street are two of the places where you can find authentic French baguettes, brioches and pastries available in the parts of town that were earlier heavy French settlements.

Do not be surprised to find local dishes blended or married with French dishes or French dishes with local twists and seasonings. They make for some of the best gastronomical experiments and experience you will ever have. Of course, you can always take a breather with the more traditional Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu cuisines served here. In a city where creativity is expressed in many ways, the food scene takes center stage, with literally thousands of ways to get an authentic taste of what Pondicherry is all about.

Try Le Cafe for its beach front, lawn benches, awesome, authentic french coffee, italian lasagna etc. Drawback - service is poor in the lawn benches.
Try Bakers Street for the fantabulous variety of authentic french breads, pastries, cookies, salads, pizza etc. They taste divine!!!! Drawback - not many eggless varieties.
Try Kasha ki Asha for the ambience, serenity, wifi, to sit for hours together with some snacks (both south indian & french) & coffee etc!!! Drawback - its a bit on the costlier side!
