Kasol is a small village in Himachal Pradesh and acts as the starting point for many treks in the Himalayas. If you are here for a week, you can go on a trek to Sar Pass, a well-known trek organised by the Youth Hostels Association of India. This is one of the most challenging treks from Kasol, but the views and the camping experiences are unmatched. Other treks organised by the association in this area include Yanker Pass, Khiriganga and Pin Parbati Pass. The trek to Mantalal lake is another popular favourite and offers splendid views of the mountains and the lake.

You can also visit the ancient villages of Malana - a solitary village, isolated from the rest of the world, with its own distinct language, customs and beliefs. The village of Chalal is closer (about 30 minute walk from Kasol). There isn't much to do here in terms of activity, except go for leisurely walks along the river and soaking in the nature. Try to limit your adventures while it's still light, as roaming around in the dark is not safe. There have been a number of tourists who have gone missing in the past.

is another popular destination for those visiting Kasol. It is located 3 km above Bharsheni. Tourism is a very new thing here, so you will get the most basic accommodations. Right in the heart of the village is a temple from where you get breathtaking views of the surroundings.

This place receives a lot of footfall of backpackers from all over the world. The locals are mostly farmers or practitioners of animal husbandry. Apples and Hashish are cultivated here, and are the main source of income for the village. A very scenic place, you can go for walks in the village and follow the trails into the green fields. At night, there are many psychedelic and trance parties held deep in the woods by the foreigners. Not a very safe place to venture out alone in the night.
