Home to famous local markets, The Mall in Mussoorie is the very heart of the town, and crossing it once or twice every day is inevitable. A huge chunk of the hotels in Mussoorie are clustered in and around this area. You can also find restaurants, as well as numerous shops selling clothes, woollens, groceries, medicines and many other knick-knacks.

2. Gun Hill & Ropeway Ride

Situated above 122 m above the Mall, Gun Hill offers some amazing views of the Doon Valley and the adjoining landscapes. It can be reached either by a bridle path forking off from the Mall, or via a ropeway ride, which is one of the famous things to do in Mussoorie.

3. Camel’s Back Road

Camel’s Back Road is a delightful 4 km stretch that starts near the Library Point and ends in Kulri Bazaar. It gets its name from a natural outcrop of rocks shaped like a camel’s hump, that can be viewed from the road.

4. Happy Valley and Company Bagh

The Happy Valley area lies to the west of the Library Point, and houses the IAS Academy, Company Gardens and numerous Tibetan homes and temples. It’s a lovely road for nature walks and scenic rickshaw rides.

5. Landour

Touted as Mussoorie’s best patch, Landour area is a must visit if you prefer some quietness, away from the tourist rush. There are a good number of hotels near Landour which, unlike the rest of Mussoorie is quiet and less packed. This is a cantonment area, and is surely one of the top 10 reasons to visit Mussoorie.

6. A day trip to Dhanaulti and Kempty Falls

Plan a day trip to Dhanaulti and Kempty Falls, two of the most famous places to visit around Mussoorie. Dhanaulti is an excellent place to spend a day wandering amidst the deodars and Kempty Falls, though a bit crowded now, is still a beautiful spot in the area.

7. Char Dukan

A lovely steep walk or drive up from the bazaar brings you to Landour’s Char Dukaan (four stalls). Come here after your stroll to feast on paranthas, masala Maggi and pancakes with maple syrup.

8. Shopping in Mussoorie

Shopping in Mussoorie is simply a delight with plethora of options to choose from like Kulri Bazaar, The Mall Road and Landour among others. Stock up on lovely souvenirs, woollens and decorative items for yourself and your loved ones!

9. Delicious Bites

Carlton’s Plaisance gets maximum vote for the best food in Mussoorie. Kulri Bazaar has most of Mussoorie’s restaurants. Clarke’s offers fine dining. There are a number of other famous local restaurants like Casa Mia (pastries/rolls), Kalsang (Tibetan food joint) and Chick Chocolate (snacks and chocolates).

10. Interesting Hikes

Mussoorie is the base for a number of day hikes to Pari Tibba, the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary, Bhadraj Forest, and a longer trek to Nag Tibba. So, don’t forget to try out the interesting trails.
